How I, Aunt Birdie, Got Started…

I learned everything from my cat, Princey-Boy. He was a rescue found shivering in an alley in Forest Hills, Queens by a woman who also rescues cats. We were in an artistic support group and the founder felt this kitten would bring love into my life, especially as I had recently lost my mother.  So Prince came wrapped up as a housewarming gift in my new apt on East 73rd Street in Manhattan. I was completely shocked , a gift I could not return to Macy’s! I was skeptical at first, especially since I had always grown up with dogs, this was a new venture for me! Though, after seeing how playful and how much of a sweet personality he had, I felt content. I decided to name him “Prince” which means “friend,” and that he was. It took a lot of getting accustomed to, but I learned to love and understand this cat. In 1994, my father came and visited me, he was delighted to see I had a new friend to keep me company! Soon after, my father unfortunately died. When this happened, having Princey-boy really helped me. There were two very valuable things Prince taught me and that was unconditional love and friendship.

Going through that experience brought me to become a member of Animal House Pet Store, a division of Pet Watch cat sitting and dog walking service on 57 St & 8th Ave from 1999-2004. Elissa Patterson, head of Animal House Pet Store, is still my reference to this day. This is what made Aunt Birdie’s Pet Watch start.
